DHL Global Forwarding, the internationally renowned air and ocean freight company have continued their global expansion into Asia by announcing an integrated warehousing site in Bengaluru, India – the first of its kind in the country. Aimed at providing both Domestic and Customs Bonded warehousing (known as CBD) solutions, the CEO of DHL Global Forwarding India lauded the new unit:
“We are exciting to pioneer customs bonded warehousing solutions for the first time in India” he was quoted as saying during an interview with The Hindu newspaper.
DHL has already invested over one million Euros in the new facility, which functions as a ‘duty-free’ zone and delivers packaging, repacking and labelling services. The warehouses aims to deliver seamless handling, storage and movement of imports into India, also allowing the company an option to re-export should they wish.
The new warehousing unit, which was built with input from warehouse consultants in both the UK and the US, is situated in Kasaba Hobli, approximately 20km from Bengaluru International Airport.
DHL Global Forwarding are expected to continue their expansion into Asia and the Middle East, with further announcements expected in the next 6-12 months. The company, which sits within the Deutsche Post DHL Group, have noted the growth of the Asian markets and consider them an excellent growth opportunity for their international freight network.
